GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with providing strategic direction of pharmacy services within Terry Reilly. Responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and effective performance management of designated team members. This leader will ensure quality and continuity of services including drug distribution, drug information services, and patient and staff education relating to proper use of pharmaceuticals. Collaborate with various clinical and non-clinical stakeholders within the organization in the spirit of an integrated care model for patients.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs as a working leader alongside the pharmacy team, providing staffing oversight including both the pharmacist and pharmacy technician teams. Includes evaluation, training, mentorship, etc.
  • Fulfills all essential duties of the Pharmacist job description.
  • Assists in duties for the hiring and supervision of pharmacy staff including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Schedules assigned staff and coordinate team members' work activities.
  • Assists in training and development of staff under the leadership of the Pharmacy Director, including staff competencies.
  • Sets objectives and goals for the Pharmacy Department to overall division goals in coordination with the Pharmacy Director.
  • Leads the work of all pharmacy personnel in accordance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to the Drug Control Act and Terry Reilly policies and procedures.
  • Develop a strategy for dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Includes: distribution, compounding of prescriptions, record keeping, patient consultation, monitoring of patient compliance, and consultation with prescribers.
  • Responsible for establishing 340B program oversight including distribution accounts, training, vendor programs, and all other compliance and regulatory components.
  • Responsible for purchasing and inventory control of pharmaceuticals. Includes supervision of purchase orders, receiving merchandise, labeling merchandise, and inventory control system for distribution and purchases of individual items. Also includes responsibility for returns, recalls, contracts, pricing policies, and price updates. Includes annual physical inventory of all pharmaceuticals within designated TR Pharmacy.
  • Partner with data analytics and accounting teams in the preparation of financial and administrative reports. Includes the following: OTC Sales, pharmacy encounters, annual inventory, Medicaid Claims and Revenue, insurance claims (3rd party), cost of medications distributed to each clinic site, and others that may be necessary.
  • Supervision of third-party prescription program claims. Includes submission of claims, reconciliation of remittance advice, and collection of co-pays at time to service.
  • Participation in the organization's American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Community Based Post Graduate Year - 1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency Program.
  • Collaborates with appropriate clinical leadership as a liaison with state departments for programs involving medications. Includes accountability reports and monitoring of storage conditions for vaccines, and patient health initiatives.
  • Development of continuing education programs for staff on topics pertaining to pharmaceuticals.
  • Provision of drug information to staff and patients via oral and written communications.
  • Development of prospective and retrospective drug utilization review programs.
  • Development of patient education programs pertaining to proper use of medications, compliance, poison prevention, family planning, use of drugs in pregnancy, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of retail pharmacy-related experience
  • 2+ years of document leadership via supervision, project, or clinical initiative
  • Active Pharmacist license in Idaho.
  • Documented success in both written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities and tasks.
  • Experience with computerized pharmacy software products, workflows, and solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Health Center and/or FQHC setting.
  • Knowledge of Spanish (Ability to speak, read, and write).
  • Budgeting and contract administration experience.
  • Experience with 340(b) contracts and pricing.
