DIVISION:       Administration / Patient Financial Services

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES      

Post charges and review coding related to the daily clinic visits in the EHR/PM system. Audits data entry input from all clinics. Generates and balances daily and monthly reports. Performs data entry input of medical, dental, and behavioral health services. Provides support to clinic staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Posts charges and adjustments for medical, dental, and behavioral health visits. Enters charges for hospital visits, Job Corp or other programs if assistance is needed.
  2. Performs review of daily charges and data entry.
  • Reviews charges, adjustments and payments to verify accuracy.
  • Verifies that posting matches deposits.
  • Review accuracy and completeness of CPT and ICD coding.
  • Reviews a percentage of patient demographic and insurance information to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Corrects errors as appropriate or routes to appropriate staff for correction.
  • Assures receipt of all batches.
  • Communicates significant errors or recurrent problems to Patient Financial Services Manager and other appropriate personnel.
  • Generates and analyzes reports periodically to identify posting and registration error patterns. 
  1. Prepares and completes balance sheets as assigned.
  2. Participates in closing and preparation of end of month, quarter, calendar year and fiscal year.
  3. Provides support to front office staff, answering questions or resolving problems.
  4. Enters data for other clinics or programs as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years' experience with ICD and CPT coding regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical billing terminology and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of standard accounting concepts related to accounts receivable.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and direction.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with good analytical skills.
  • Works well with others as a team player.
