Clinical Supervisor Behavioral Health

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES     

Provide clinical and administrative supervision of staff assigned to the School Counselor Program.  Will ensure effectiveness and consistency of therapeutic procedures, administrative procedures and adherence to corporate policies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Performs the functions of a School Counselor.
  2. Direct contact, coordination and collaboration with School personnel to include district offices, principals, counselors and other personnel as needed.
  3. Ensures School Counselors meet the requirements of their respective job descriptions.
  4. Ensures that treatment staff adheres to the ethical guidelines for the respective disciplines including, National Association of Social Work (NASW) and the American Counseling Association (ACA) or the state equivalent of these entities.
  5. Attend and participate in all staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  6. Meets with School Counselor clinicians as needed to provide individualized consultation regarding caseload and clients.
  7. Provides supervision for therapists working toward clinical endorsement.
  8. Conducts personnel evaluations of School Counselor therapeutic staff utilizing chart review and feedback from the Behavioral Health Director, other therapeutic staff and referral sources.
  9. Meets with or calls referral sources as needed to maintain relationships and ensure satisfaction with the School Counselor program services, providers, policies and procedures.
  10. Reviews and, when needed, revises therapeutic treatment assignments and hand-outs to ensure they continue to be effective and current in conjunction with the clinical staff and the Behavioral Health Director.
  11. Maintains and monitors for completion of quality assurance activities for appropriate funders and referral sources.
  12. Periodically reviews and, when needed, revises policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date in conjunction with the clinical staff and the Behavioral Health Director.
  13. Coordinates outreach programs, as appropriate, and monitors staff safety while off-site.
  14. Monitors and approves School Counselors time through the corporate time and attendance system to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policy. Monitors and approves/denies TOP requests.
  15. Ensure that therapists use their education monies to keep them current in their chosen field.
  16. Brings all important personnel issues and tough cases with potential for legal liability to the immediate attention of the Behavioral Health Director.
  17. Participates in budget preparations, monitoring and/or modifications as needed.
  18. Develop and lead new programming focused on school counseling. Works collaboratively with school personnel and the school district to meet the needs of students and families.  
  19. Maintain collaborative linkages with other community programs and services.
  20. Comply with all current TR policies, including HIPAA policies.
  21. Portray professionalism to clients, other TR department personnel, referral sources, and the community during daily interactions and appearances.
  22. Utilize training funds appropriated for educational advancement consistent with CEU policy; attend required workshops as they occur.

MARGINAL DUTIES

  1. Provide public education presentations, in-service training, and participate in outreach events.
  2. Attends TR Supervisor trainings.
  3. Recruit and supervise volunteers and student interns.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  1. Meets all performance criteria of School Counselor job description.
  2. Is available to staff "tough cases" with therapists in a timely fashion and offers sound advice and input.
  3. Conducts performance evaluations annually and at other scheduled intervals on School Counselor staff.
  4. Works effectively with staff to continuously improve operations for the welfare of our patients. Builds and enhances teamwork and respect throughout the corporation.
  5. Work conditions are created that cultivate a positive work environment and morale among therapists.
  6. Is fair, equitable, positive, and constructive in managing others; actively promotes teamwork and positive staff morale.
  7. A positive image of the School Counselor program is projected to related professionals and the general public at all times.
  8. Contracts and reporting requirements are completed in a timely fashion.
  9. Treatment policy and procedures are reviewed and updated annually.
  10. Clinical program is within defined budget parameters.
  11. Performance evaluations are performed in a timely manner and are an accurate reflection of staff performance.
  12. Staff meetings are scheduled and run effectively.
  13. Payroll approval for School Counselor staff is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  14. Confidentiality is maintained and HIPAA policies are complied with at all times.
  15. Positive development of relationship building with community school partners.
  16. Be punctual to meetings and appointments.
  17. Comply with professional ethical standards.
  18. Conduct public speaking and outreach training engagements as assigned.
  19. Demonstrate an understanding of availability, eligibility, and how to access federal, state and regional social services programs.
  20. Works effectively with staff to continuously improve operations for the welfare of our patients. Builds and enhances teamwork and respect throughout the corporation.
  21. Follows TR safety protocols and guidelines.
  22. Report to work punctually during assigned work hours. When a problem arises, the Behavioral Health Director is to be notified immediately.
  23. Always meet deadline dates that are required, both internally and externally. When a deadline is in jeopardy of not being met, the Behavioral Health Director is to be notified in advance.          

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Successful clearance of Department of Health and Welfare criminal background check.
  2. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
  3. Current and unrestricted professional license in the state of Idaho (LCPC, LCSW).
  4. Approved supervisor with the State of Idaho Counseling or Social Work Board.
  5. Experience working with underserved populations; knowledge, commitment and sensitivity to the special needs of homeless people and substance users.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Possess better than average computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid LCSW, LCPC or equivalent in the State of Idaho.
  2. Minimum 3 years clinical work experience with at least 2 years administrative and supervisory experience in a mental health setting.
  3. Bilingual in Spanish and English
  4. Experience working in a medical setting, community health setting, or as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Knowledge of computer and email systems, as well as EMR.
  6. Familiarity with State of Idaho Health & Welfare Mental Health system.
