Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES       

Responsible for the administration of Human Resources policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations. Assist with employee relation issues and problem solving. Provides counseling to managers and supervisors on staff relations issues, legal issues, and policy interpretation. Reduce Terry Reilly's legal exposure and ensure effective management practices are being consistently used. Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Works directly with Senior Human Resources Generalist and management team and staff proactively and reactively on personnel issues. Assist with employee relation issues and problem solving. Provides counseling to managers on staff relations issues, legal issues, and policy interpretation. Reduce company's legal exposure and ensure effective management practices are being consistently used.
  • Monitors the career development and internal recruiting efforts within the organization to align with employment laws and policies.
  • Assists Senior Human Resources Generalist with performance concerns, disciplinary action and conflict management issues.
  • Administers the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs.
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.
  • Manages employee surveys and work plan proposal as it relates to employee satisfaction.
  • Directs and coordinates preparation of position descriptions, ensures FLSA classification compliance and oversees job evaluations.
  • Administers and interprets various labor agreements, administers grievance procedures, and provides labor relations support during contract negotiations.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
  • Administers unemployment insurance processes, reviews liability reports, monitors program costs and recommends policy changes to the Senior Human Resources Generalist.
  • Directs the development of staffing strategies in conjunction with senior leadership.
  • Works collaboratively with HR Recruiting in developing hiring processes for a variety of levels from temporary staffing to executive placement
  • Develops, streamlines and enhances staffing systems, tracking reporting and analysis.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.

  • Ensures compliance with FMLA and ADA accommodations process. Engages staff members with requests for accommodations and ensures the interactive process takes place in a though and timely manner.
  • Monitors the performance appraisal process. Sends supervisors lists of their employees with performance appraisals due or upcoming. Tracks completion of appraisals. Notifies Senior Human Resources Generalist of any overdue appraisals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum three-years Human Resources experience with an emphasis on Employee Relations and Employment Law, EEO, and ADA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or another related field or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum three years Human Resources experience.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • A self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
  • Is professional in appearance and manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, with five-year' experience with a focus on employee relations.
  • Human Resource experience in Healthcare.
  • SHRM-CP certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
