Psychiatric Technician Manager - Allumbaugh House

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES       

Provide nursing care in collaboration with multi-disciplinary treatment team members. Responsibilities include the ongoing assessment and planning for patients at Allumbaugh House. Provide managerial support to the Psychiatric Technicians.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conducts individualized assessment of patient need. Collaborates with other clinic staff in the development and implementation of treatment plan and interventions. Generates appropriate medical chart notations.
  • Communicates patient's current status and plan of care to clinic staff.
  • Provides direct service to patients. May include, but not limited to: assisting patients with activities of daily living including ambulation, dressing, toileting and feeding as needed.
  • Provides guidance and support utilizing therapeutic communication skills.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic and professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrates compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supports a therapeutic treatment milieu that is recovery-focused.
  • Performs designated waived testing lab procedures, specifically breathalyzer and urine drug screen.
  • Provides first-aid or emergency care as needed.
  • Works closely with the team to ensure smooth patient flow through the Allumbaugh House, specifically ensuring timely and accurate communication between internal and external community partners.
  • Evaluates clients for the appropriateness of discharge and collaborates with counseling staff on discharge planning. Provides guidance and oversight to Psychiatric Technicians in discharge planning activities.
  • Assists Program Director in recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluation and discipline of psychiatric technician staff. Participates in and monitors orientation process of all Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures with the AH LeadershipTeam.
  • Serves as a resource, leadership liaison, and provides oversight of Psychiatric Technician performance. Assists Program Director and Nurse Manager with competency and performance evaluations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree and NCPT certification
  • Successful clearance of Department of Health and Welfare criminal background check.
  • Two years work experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field
  • Four or more years experience in the field of alcoholism, substance use disorders and mental health.
  • Knowledge of computer and email systems, as well as EMR.
  • Knowledge of community resources as well as State of Idaho Health & Welfare Mental Health system.
  • Previous CPI or Mandt certification with demonstrated proficiency in de-escalation strategies.
