Registered Health Information Technician - Canyon Dental

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES       

Maintaining medical information/records systems and assisting in coordination of flow of information; receives incoming calls and provides information to the caller, and/or routes call to appropriate person/department, scanning and data entry of medical reports and documentation into the EHR (Electronic Health Record), internal/external mail. This position will organize and manage health information data ensuring its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper and electronic systems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Ensures the confidentiality, security and physical safety of all patient and employee electronic/paper medical records is maintained.
  2. Performs office duties within the scope of training/experience of Personal Health Information (PHI) management.
  3. Digitally enters lab, x-ray and hospital reports into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  4. Collects and prepares data, paper/electronic, for research, cost control, care improvement efforts, surveys, quality assurance, and clinical reviews.
  5. Maintains the processing, maintenance, storage, timely retrieval and distribution of electronic/paper medical records per existing Terry Reilly protocols.
  6. Maintains a predetermined organized record format, consistent with applicable law; maintains the content and format of electronic/paper medical records in a uniform manner.
  7. Plan, develop, maintain and operate a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store and analyze information.
  8. Release information to persons and agencies in compliance with current Terry Reilly protocols and HIPPA standards.
  9. Receives and processes DDS (Disability Determination Services) requests.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
  2. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  3. Able to lift 25lbs, and reach top chart shelves within storage units.
  4. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, electronic medical record formats, managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
  5. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  6. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  7. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  8. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  9. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  10. The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations
  11. Proficient telephone skills; pleasant telephone voice and etiquette, and able to hear and speak clearly.
